Jacobs To Build In Czech Republic

Jacobs Vehicle Systems, Bloomfield, Conn., a manufacturer of heavy-duty diesel engine retarding systems and valve actuation systems, announced that it will open a manufacturing facility in the city of Brno in the Czech Republic.

Brno will be Jacobs third global manufacturing operations. In addition to Jacobs’ 270,000 sq. ft. design, testing and manufacturing facility in Bloomfield, the company also operates a manufacturing facility in Suzhou, China.

Starting in early 2019, Jacobs said the Brno plant will initially produce up to 100,000 engine brakes annually for manufacturers of heavy-duty commercial vehicles and engines. Future phased development of the 21,500 sq. ft. plant could eventually double production to 200,000 units annually.

Jacobs works in Europe with vehicle and engine manufacturers including Daimler, DAF, Deutz, Ford Otosan, and Volvo Group.
