Liebherr Components At SMM

04 September 2018

The new low voltage frequency converter system Liduro Marine of the LCM 300 series by Liebherr Components is meant for applications with a drive power from 110 Kw up to 5 MW and a voltage range of 380 to 690 V. The system can be used in main drives and maneuvering thrusters on ships, as well as in winches and drives on maritime cranes.

The frequency converter system Liduro Marine is based on a platform architecture in line with customer and industry requirements. The core components of the new system are the high-power electronic modules of the new LCU 300 series. High-efficiency, liquid-cooled modules feature a power density of up to 13.5 MW/ m³ and an extensive power range from 110 kW to 2 000 kW in just two sizes.

According to Liebherr Components, fast and reliable protection functions ensure a secure and long service life. The power modules can be configured as drive or regeneration units and they can be used in parallel operation with a common DC voltage bus for high total output, or for a partially-redundant system design. As an option, the modules can also be configured with an integrated brake chopper.

Another platform component is the Liebherr LCF control unit with corresponding control, protection and supervision functions, along with rotary encoder and communication interfaces. Other components are available for a complete system, such as power switches, filter chokes, DU/dt filters and braking resistors. The fully-configurable cabinet installation solutions are fitted in enclosures complying with IP 54 standard. The system solution includes preconfigured cooling systems, which reduce the need for air-conditioning in the immediate environment of the installation, since almost no waste heat is given off. The cabinet solutions are installed in such a way that access to the individual system components and assemblies for servicing needs is quick and easy, the company said.

The system design is very and individual drive solutions can be realized even in compact installation spaces and flexibly integrated within a control room or distribution station. Liebherr energy storage systems, motors and generators can be simply connected to frequency converter cabinets, thereby increasing system efficiency.

The frequency converter systems fulfill the requirements of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS).
