M-B Gets Largest Truck Order In Eastern Europe

Mercedes-Benz Trucks said it has registered the largest fleet order in Eastern Europe in its history. A framework agreement for the delivery of 1000 Mercedes-Benz Actros with Euro 6 engines was signed with Girteka Logistics, a Lithuanian logistics company, earlier this month. The majority of the trucks will be delivered this year, Mercedes-Benz said.

“In the year of our 20th anniversary, we decided to modernize our fleet by 1000 new Mercedes-Benz Actros – an important strategic decision for us,” said Mindaugas Raila, chairman of Girteka Logistics. “The new Actros convinces by its operating performance, safety equipment and reliability.”

In order to further improve the fuel efficiency of the new trucks, Girteka Logistics additionally decided on Daimler’s FleetBoard, a telematics system designed to collect all vehicle data including fuel consumption, driving style or vehicle wear-and-tear. FleetBoard supports full transparency of the entire fleet and shows further potential of savings.

First launched in 1996, Mercedes-Benz said it has delivered more than one million Actros trucks, including more than 100,000 of the current generation vehicle.
