Dubai Petroleum (DP) has awarded Aberdeen, Scotland-based RWG a three-year master service agreement for the maintenance of Siemens SGT-A20 AV (Industrial Avon) gas generators in operation offshore in the Fateh oil field, approximately 90 km from Dubai.
The work includes the overhaul of DP’s fleet of Industrial Avon Mk 1535 and Avon 200 gas generators, involving full disassembly, inspection and repair or replacement of unserviceable components, as well as performance testing before the engines are returned to service.
DP operates a mixed fleet of Siemens aeroderivative equipment, including Industrial Avon and Siemens SGT-A30 RB (Industrial RB211) gas generators, which provide power for gas compression and water flood applications.
RWG will perform engine overhauls at its dedicated Industrial Avon service facility in Aberdeen and in addition, will provide in-country field service support at the customer’s Jebel Ali facility in Dubai and offshore installations for unscheduled heavy maintenance, field repairs, trouble-shooting and engine re-commissioning.
“We are delighted to continue our long-standing alliance with DP, built over many years by supporting the operator’s Industrial Avon and Industrial RB211 equipment,” said Mark Forsyth, RWG’s industrial & marine business director. “With our depth of gas generator experience and local capability in Dubai, we look forward to delivering enhanced fleet availability and reliability and helping lower the cost of ownership for our customer.”
The Industrial Avon gas generator entered the market in the 1960s with and more than 700 are said to be still in service. They have been widely used in power plants, oil refineries and offshore installations around the world. Launched in 2007, the Industrial Avon 200 life extension upgrade delivers improved power and thermal efficiency and where possible mean times between overhauls (MTBO) can be extended, said RWG.
RWG is a Siemens and Wood Group company that provides maintenance, repair and overhaul of Siemens industrial aeroderivative gas generators and power turbines.
