Scag parent company expands manufacturing footprint
24 August 2021
Metalcraft of Mayville Inc., a metal fabricating specialist and parent company of Scag Power Equipment, has announced its acquisition of Robbins Manufacturing, Inc., Fall River, Wis. The acquisition was effective August 23 and no financial details were provided.
Founded in 1989, Robbins Manufacturing is a custom metal fabricator and powder coating specialist for all types of industries.
Metalcraft said it will retain all of the more than 200 existing employees at Robbins’ the Fall River location and Metalcraft said it plans to double the headcount there over time. The acquisition does not impact the employment status for anyone in Metalcraft’s other facilities, the company said.
According to Metalcraft management, the new location provides a strong, complementary workforce in a plant that is very similar and in close proximity to the company’s existing operations. The former Robbins facility also provides additional capacity to support Metalcraft’s continued growth.
In addition, the capabilities and processes gained through this acquisition will allow for further expansion of the company’s product offerings under its Scag Power Equipment and Versatran truck brands.
Metalcraft said it plans to immediately move some of its existing work into the Fall River plant, as well as invest in upgrading the facility.
“We are pleased that we can put our family business of over 30 years in the hands of such a great company as Metalcraft,” said Greg Robbins, owner of Robbins Manufacturing. “We are positive this will provide a strong future for the operation and its employees.”
Headquartered in Mayville, Wisconsin, Metalcraft is comprised of four divisions – contract manufacturing for large OEM’s, Scag Power Equipment, Metalcraft Automation Group, and Versatran Trucks. MOM currently has six facilities operating in southern Wisconsin and employs nearly 1000 office and production staff. Metalcraft’s footprint includes three heavy metal manufacturing plants, located in Mayville, West Bend, and Beaver Dam, Wis.; two plants focusing on automation, located in New Berlin and West Bend, Wis.; and its truck division, located in Watertown, Wis.
