Tadano to use solar power on Japanese site

As part of its sustainability push, crane manufacturer Tadano has started using electricity generated from on-site solar panels on the roof of its Kozai plant in Takamatsu City, its largest manufacturing facility in Japan.
The capacity of the installed solar panels is 1182.6 kilowatts
The plant was constructed in 2019.
Orix Corporation installed and started operating the solar power generating equipment on the 20,000 square metre roof of the main factory building of the factory. Tadano agreed a power purchase agreement with Orix to use the full amount of the generated power.
Capacity of the installed solar panels is 1,182.6 kilowatts, and the amount of power consumed during the first year is forecast to be 1.264 million kilowatt-hours.
Tadano expects this will reduce its CO2 emissions by 18 per cent.
A Tadano spokesperson said, “We are working to engage in ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) and SDGs (sustainable development goals) initiatives based on the desire to contribute to a better global environment as a part of society, and on the desire to achieve long-term corporate growth as we step forward into our second century of business operations.”
Tadano aims to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
