Transfluid Acquires Bellmarine Manufacturer
11 July 2018
In an effort to continue the expansion of its electric propulsion products, Transfluid announced it has acquired 100% of the shares in IDTechnology B.V. No financial details were provided.
IDTechnology, based in the Netherlands, develops and markets electric marine propulsion systems for pleasure boats and commercial vessels under the Bellmarine brand. The company will continue to operate from The Netherlands and maintain its own distinct brand identity, Transfluid said. Marien Schoonen, the founder of Bellmarine, will remain with the company focusing on sales and product development.
This strategic move will provide a broad array of solutions that satisfies most needs for electric and hybrid powertrains for the boating and vessel market, Transfluid said.
Headquartered in Gallarate, Italy, and with subsidiaries around the world Transfluid has been in the power transmission market for more than 60 years. Earlier this year, the company developed a comprehensive range of hybrid and electric propulsion systems and started the design and production of the Tier G permanent magnet electric motor, which targets marine propulsion and on- and off-road vehicle applications.
