EthosEnergy has been awarded a major contract by Kepco KPS for the retrofit of a steam turbine at GS Power’s Bucheon Power Plant in South Korea.

The project scope includes the replacement and redesign of the HP rotor, HP rotating and stationary blades and the replacement of the LP last stage blades.

A spokesperson from Kepco KPS said, “Our alliance with EthosEnergy over the past 11 years meant that they were our first choice for this project. We knew that they could not only complete the retrofit but apply their engineering know-how to extend the life of the Steam Turbine, in turn will generate more power and heat to the wider area.”

“Our capability to create customized steam turbine designs to fit the customer’s requirements coupled with our depth of engineering expertise, assured Kepco KPS that we were the right choice to add significant value to the GS Power Plant,” said Sean Carter, EthosEnergy’s  senior vice president of Major Maintenance, Asia Pacific. “The retrofit will not only extend the life of the steam turbine, but will also improve the reliability and increase the efficiency of power generation at this plant.”

With more than 4500 employees worldwide, EthosEnergy is an independent service provider of rotating equipment services to the power, oil and gas and industrial markets.

In late May the company, which has corporate headquarters in both Houston, Texas, USA and Aberdeen, Scotland, was also given the Supplier of the MTU MRO Half Year Award by MTU Maintenance for outstanding delivery, reliability, quality and dedication to continuous improvement.

The award was presented for the work EthosEnergy carries out for MTU Maintenance. This includes repair and overhaul services on industrial and aero gas turbine fuel nozzles, premixers and accessories.
