Burckhardt Buys Japan Steel Works’ Compressor Business

Burckhardt Compression has acquired the global compressor business of Japan Steel Works Ltd., a Japan-based manufacturer of steel, industrial machinery and power plant equipment. Burckhardt Compression (Japan) Ltd., headquartered in Yokohama, will be responsible for local customer management.

The move aids Burckhardt Compression’s goal to expand its product portfolio and market reach. Both companies did not disclose the acquisition price. The closing of the transaction is expected at the end of March.

“Burckhardt Compression is building on its market leadership in the compressor business and expanding its presence in Japan, a key market, with this acquisition,” said Marcel Pawlicek, Burckhardt Compression CEO.
