Robert Aebi is a machine dealer and service provider for the construction and agriculture industries which can trace its origins back to 1881.

Based in Regensdorf, Switzerland, the company works with machine OEMs from around the world to tailor solutions that meet – and exceed – customer expectations.

“We are back at Bauma! It’s essentially our home show, so it means a lot to be taking part,” said Claus Speldrich, Strategic Business Development manager at Robert Aebi, who spoke with Power Progress International at the recent Bauma Media Dialogue event at Messe München.

The company works closely with Volvo Penta and Volvo CE; many of the machines and systems that will be on the company stand are related to those produced by the Swedish OEM. But these also serve as the basis for solutions specifically developed by Robert Aebi in response to customer needs.

With support from Volvo Penta, Robert Aebi puts forward that it has the largest range of sustainable solutions that are ready for delivery.

This includes a full range of compact battery-electric machines – first presented at Bauma back in 2019. These have now been joined by battery-electric general purpose equipment (GPE), including an all-new 23-tonne crawler excavator.

An example of this machine was recently delivered to a project at the Marienplatz U-bahn train station in central Munich that will carry out work to expand the facility and add a pedestrian tunnel. As such, the zero-emission vehicle is ideal for the location.

“The machine helps to reduce overall emissions while working in an enclosed space, plus it has the capacity to work for up to eight hours – a full shift - on a single charge, dependent on use case,” said Speldrich.

In addition to delivering the machine, Robert Aebi is actively supporting the project. This includes delivery of suitable charging solutions. There’s also techniques to help improve onsite productivity; a drone was flown over the worksite and that detail was used in a simulation that helped select the best location for each work operation.

“This information can help get a site running more efficiently than it has done in the past,” explained Speldrich. “These improvements help to gain efficiency, but in doing that you can also reduce your carbon footprint.”

How this and other optimisation procedures can support construction projects will be featured on the company stand at Bauma (Hall C6, Stand 303).
