Bauma 2025: Power system news from the mega-event

People from across the globe will soon be gathering in Munich, Germany, April 7-13, 2025, for the 34th edition of Bauma, the mega-event for the construction, building materials and mining machinery industries. In 2022, the trade fair saw nearly 500,000 attendees and exhibitors come together across 614,000 sq. meters of indoor and outdoor exhibit space hosting products from over 3,200 companies representing 60 different countries.

Niftylift to highlight hydrogen

Niftylift will show eight machines on its booth at Bauma, and taking center stage will be the Hydrogen-Electric HR17 H2E which launched in 2024 and is being exhibited at a global exhibition for the first time. Also making its first appearance at an international trade show is the HR22SE, the first stick-boom self-propelled platform from the company. Learn more.

Interactive power journey
Flash Battery is a developer and manufacturer of battery technologies used in on-highway vehicles and off-highway machines. At Bauma, the Italian company will offer an interactive experience designed to demonstrate how its products can power the construction industry’s electric revolution. Read more.
Two-wheeled electric prototype
The concept of Germany-based start up QuiMo is a remote-controlled, two-wheeled electric powered loader that has a 360-degree movement capability, weighs 1.8 tonnes and can lift 1.8 tonnes. The loader will be shown for the first time at Bauma. Learn more.
ZQuip offers swappable solution
There are some concerns about pure electric machines, largely related to recharging times and the resale value of the machine. ZQuip, as part of Moog Construction, is looking to address these with its swappable machine power system. Read more.

Schaeffler highlights electrification
Schaeffler said it plans to highlight how its technology can support planned electrification of construction machinery. The company’s electric motor portfolio covers a series of common voltages up to 800 V. Electric drives intended for the construction equipment sector are offered with maximum continuous output of 300 kW. Learn more.
ABB electric motors
ABB has been delivering electric motors for trains, buses and working machines for more than a century. At Bauma 2025, the company will present a series of new products, ranging from the company’s Pro battery range through to the updated AMXE motor series. Read more.
POWR2’s latest mobile BESS tech

Among the products scheduled to be highlighted is the POWERBANK XPro Plus BESS, which the company said is designed to optimize energy use, reduce fuel consumption and deliver efficient, uninterrupted power on construction sites. The soon to be UL-listed and CSA-certified system offers an optional 30-kW DC fast charger for charging electric vehicles. Read more.
CAN router from Axiomatic
Axiomatic Technologies Corp. will highlight its new nine-channel CAN router with an ethernet port for rapid and bi-directional data exchange on machine networks. The company said the controller may be configured as a switch to broadcast messages on all ports, or it can modify an address or change a source address before sending it out on another port. Epec introduces control unit
Technology company Epec will feature the SL8X control unit, a high-performance platform designed to meet the demanding requirements of off-highway equipment and non-road vehicles. With real-time control, functional safety, and exceptional flexibility, the company said the SL8X is a solution for the evolving needs of modern machines. Learn more.
Enerpac to present lift solutions for engine OEMs
Enerpac is a hydraulics specialist which has incorporated this tech in a range of lift and gantry solutions for moving heavy loads in construction and manufacturing assembly operations. At Bauma, the company is set to show nine different demo setups, including its new Smart Transporter solutions for engine manufacturing. Read more.

60+ products in Danfoss’ stand
Danfoss Power Solutions plans to highlight its capabilities in hydraulics, eHydraulics, electrification, digitalization, autonomy and software. Its stand will feature more than 60 of its product, including several new products, including the X1P family of open-circuit piston pumps built on the all-new X1 platform; additions to the Thorx line of cam lobe motors; and a thermoplastic hose for material handling applications. Liebherr to show ammonia engine
Liebherr plans to unveil three new product developments in combustion engines: the 950-kW, 27 L D9612 12-cylinder diesel engine; a hydraulic air boosting system for managing engine dynamics during lean mixture engine operation; and a concept ammonia-fueled engine. Read more.
Bosch Rexroth, HydraForce join forces

Bosch Rexroth and its subsidiary HydraForce will join forces at the event to showcase customized compact hydraulic solutions for OEM customers in the construction industry. The companies’ stand will include live demonstrations of select products from a full lineup of hydraulic control solutions. Learn more.
Enerpac lift solutions for engine OEMs
The hydraulics specialist is set to show nine different demo setups, including its new Smart Transporter solutions for engine manufacturing. The 600-ton capacity self-propelled electric transporter works in conjunction with an Enerpac ML-40 mini-lift gantry with a maximum capacity of 40 tons. Learn more.
Off-Highway Research to hold market briefing

Specialist market research and forecasting company, Off-Highway Research (OHR), will hold an in-depth briefing on the state of the global construction equipment market during the forthcoming Bauma exhibition. The briefing will take place on the second day of the Bauma exhibition, Tuesday 8 April, at 10.00 am at conference room B41 close to hall B4 at the Messe München show ground. Read more.
New FUSO, Mercedes-Benz solutions on show

Daimler Truck announced that two of its brands, FUSO and Mercedes-Benz, will present a variety of truck models at Bauma 2025. FUSO will be demonstrating its Canter internal combustion engine (ICE)-driven truck as well as its all-electric counterpart, the eCanter. Mercedes-Benz Trucks will showcase more than 40 vehicles across a range of application solutions, both in its own booth and at those of various body manufacturers. Learn more.

Volvo CE goes all electric
Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has announced that it will only be displaying electric equipment on its stand – which it said will be the “first-ever zero-emission-only lineup” at Bauma Munich. It also said it will be unveiling a new electric machine that is designed for key industrial segments in the construction industry. Read more.
Perkins focuses on future engines

The UK-based engine manufacturer plans to highlight its upcoming 2606 model in Germany. The 12.9-litre six-cylinder engine will replace the existing 15- and 18-litre models due to its superior power output. Perkins will also show its recently launched 904J engine, as well as release more details about its Project Coeus alternative fuels-based project. Learn more.
Volvo Penta highlights BESS subsystem

Volvo Penta will highlight its battery-electric platform for construction and mining, emphasizing its battery energy storage (BESS) subsystem. Its scalable and modular BESS subsystem is designed to enable OEMs and system integrators to integrate and deploy electric power to meet energy needs in a variety of applications. Learn more.
Caterpillar to present new machines and tech

Celebrating its centenary year under the theme ‘The Next 100 Years’, Caterpillar is set to show a wide range of new equipment, tech, power options and related services in Munich. Its stand will feature a total of 48 machines, including 17 new or upgraded models. There will be examples from the battery-electric lineup, the Next Generation platform range and new additions to the Demolition, Waste Handling and Recycling portfolios. Lean more.
JDPS to show future-forward tech

John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) will show ‘a diverse range of future-forward technologies, including the latest industrial engines from JDPS, including the JD4, JD9, JD14 and JD18. The company will also show prototype battery packs developed in collaboration with Kreisel Electric, as well as aftermarket solutions. Learn more.
Hyundai CE display includes hydrogen excavator

In total, the South Korean company will have up to 18 machines on display. Of those, 10 will be either all-new or feature new updates. Included in that lineup is a pre-production version of the HW155H, a 15-tonne wheeled excavator which is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell system. At Bauma 2022 this was a static model, but at this year’s event the machine will be working in the demonstration area. Read more.
Rehlko to launch aftermarket fluids
With the goal of getting the most performance from your engine, Rehlko plans to present new aftermarket fluids at Bauma 2025. The new products include Xtreme Conditions motor oil and Xtended Life coolant. Read more.
