Deutz and Takeuchi Announce Engine Agreement

13 June 2016

Germany’s Deutz AG announced it is has reached a supply agreement with Takeuchi Mfg. Co. Ltd., Sakaki, Nagano Prefecture, Japan.  From mid-2016 on, Takeuchi will be equipping its new TB295W wheeled excavator and its new TB2150 tracked excavator with the Deutz TCD 3.6 diesel engine. Deutz said the engines meet Stage 4 emissions regulations for Japan as well as EU Stage 4 and US EPA Tier 4 final.

The engine will include an exhaust aftertreatment system that includes a diesel oxidizing catalytic converter (DOC) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR). For more strictly regulated markets such as Switzerland and for municipal applications in Germany, a diesel particulate filter (DPF) will be used. With DPF, Deutz said the machines also meet EU Stage 5, which is expected to begin in 2019.

The Deutz TCD 3.6 water-cooled, four-cylinder in-line engine produces 55.4 to 100 kW at 2200 r/min.  Deutz said it has a compact design and a modular system of optional add-on components. The DVERT (Deutz Variable Emission Reduction Technology) system is also modular and meets the individual requirements of various markets with the standard DOC/SCR solution and the optional DPF/SCR solution. This exhaust aftertreatment system is provided to Takeuchi as a fully assembled drop-in solution, to make installation much easier.

Hiroshi Yokoyama, research and development general manager at Takeuchi said, “We are delighted to be collaborating with Deutz on our Stage 4 excavators. Modular exhaust aftertreatment is hugely beneficial for us and we are reaping the rewards from Deutz’s experience in exhaust technolog
