Deutz Shows Hybrid Drive At Intermat

20 April 2018

Deutz will exhibit its first off-highway hybrid concept at the Intermat show in Paris April 23-28. Combining a diesel engine and electric motor, the concept is a product of the E-Deutz program established in 2017.

The company will also show a European Union Stage 5 certified engine range and new in-line 9 to 18 L engines, while the service business will show an app for remote engine diagnosis.

The modular, scalable hybrid drive uses a Deutz TCD 2.9 diesel engine and a 55 kW electric motor along with a lithium-ion battery pack. The e-motor and diesel each deliver 55 kW, producing a combined maximum system output of 110 kW. The mechanical connection between the e-motor and the diesel engine is achieved with a transmission with an integrated decoupler to provide the option of powering the vehicle with electricity.

Deutz will show its exhaust aftertreatment technology in Paris, including the Stage 5 certified TTCD 6.1 diesel engine, ready for when the regulations take effect in 2019.

It will present an expanded portfolio in the higher output range, with four new in-line engines between 9 and 18 L. The TCD 9.0 four-cylinder engine and the TCD 12/13.5 and 18 six-cylinder rated 400 hp to 831 hp will be aimed at off-highway applications.

The company is also extending its offering in the lower power output range. From 2019 there will be a three-cylinder TCD 2.2 rated 29.5 hp to 74 hp.

Two digital products will be shown under the slogan “Get Connected.” A free service app enables engine diagnosis to be carried out remotely via a smartphone or tablet, while the online service portal (www.deutz-serviceportal.com), permits customers anywhere in the world to register their engines online and buy parts.

Deutz’s location at Intermat is in Hall 5A/Stand D011.
