American Battery Solutions, Inc. (ABS), a U.S.-based provider of advanced lithium-ion battery systems for commercial and industrial electrification, has introduced Aventor, its next-generation high-voltage battery platform. The system was developed for use in rugged, high-utilization commercial electric vehicles as well as industrial and specialty applications, such as transit and specialty vehicles, material handling and logistics, agriculture and industrial equipment and more.

Designed, engineered and assembled in the U.S.A. using domestically sourced cells, Aventor is built to support BABA-compliant OEM programs. The 800-volt architecture delivers 300 Wh/L volumetric and up to 200 Wh/kg gravimetric energy density, 113 kWh of energy and 358 kW of peak discharge power. For high-utilization applications, the platform supports fast charging from 10% to 80% in 42 minutes or less, the company stated.

A scalable common architecture supports two purpose-built form factors. The standard Chassis-Integrated Pack can be installed between the frame rails of commercial vehicles, as well as in other constrained horizontal locations such as roof-mounted installations. The Hyper-Rugged Cube Pack offers a more rugged enclosure and load-path strategy for use in harsher mechanical environments. It is designed for multiple installation orientations and mounting faces.

The wire-free battery management system (BMS) is intended to reduce system complexity and improve reliability. Ultra-high-precision voltage and temperature measurement at every series element, together with a microprocessor and onboard data storage at every cell group, provide granular monitoring and diagnostics. Aventor also includes cybersecurity protections, over-the-air update capabilities, active isolation monitoring, vent-gas detection and anti-propagation technologies.

The system is designed to align with functional-safety, regulatory and certification requirements including ASIL-C requirements under ISO 26262, FMVSS 305a, UL 2580 and ECE R100, among others. It is built and validated for up to 10 years of heavy-duty design life. The standard enclosure is dust-tight and certified to both IP67 for immersion and IP69K for high-pressure washdown.

Customer samples are planned for 2027, with start of production scheduled for Q1 2028. Initial production capacity will be 6,000 battery packs annually, representing approximately 0.7 GWh.
