BMZ Poland, EVE Energy team on LMFP batteries
08 October 2026
Battery manufacturer BMZ Poland and Eve Energy, a battery technology company and cell manufacturer, have entered a long-term strategic cooperation to develop a new generation of lithium manganese iron phosphate (LMFP) cell technology with a modular battery platform engineered for electric commercial vehicles, vessels and other heavy-duty applications.

The first major result of the cooperation is Versora LMFP, presented at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover, Germany. The solution extends BMZ’s Versora modular battery platform – designed to allow manufacturers to configure the battery system around the vehicle – with LMFP chemistry.
“Eve [Energy] brings advanced LMX cell technology and global manufacturing scale, while BMZ brings 12 years of experience in designing and integrating battery systems for demanding commercial vehicle applications,” noted Robert Kowalczyk, CEO of BMZ Poland. “Versora turns these complementary capabilities into one scalable platform that can serve very different vehicles and operating requirements.”
According to Eve Energy data presented at IAA, in a long-haul electric truck application, an LMFP battery system can be up to 10% lighter than an equivalent lithium iron phosphate (LFP) solution for the same energy requirement. LMFP also enables charging at up to 1 MW and 2.2C, allowing the battery to go from 10% to 80% state of charge in less than 25 minutes.
The technology offers more than 4,500 cycles to 80% state of health at 100% depth of discharge, while up to 100% of its nominal energy can be used, the companies noted. The target for the next generation is above 5,500 cycles. It also retains 85% of its capacity at -20° C.
“LMX brings together benefits that until now have been difficult to achieve within a single chemistry. It means less weight, faster charging, long cycle life, more usable energy and significantly improved cold-temperature performance compared with conventional LFP,” said Konstantin Kroecker, technical solution director at Eve Energy. “Together with BMZ, we are translating these cell-level advantages into a production-ready solution for real commercial vehicle applications.”
Versora LMFP is currently under development. First customer samples are planned for 2027, followed by series deliveries from mid-2028.
