Indigo Flow and Flow Plus Indigo Flow and Flow Plus

Indigo Technologies, with headquarters in Woburn, Massachusetts, has presented its Flow and Flow Plus electric vehicles at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. The vehicles are targeted at the rideshare and delivery markets.

Both vehicles use the IndiWheel technology. These incorporate an electric wheel hub motor and electric active suspension hardware. The combination is said to deliver ‘superior’ handling, comfort and safety.

Each wheel of the Flow vehicles features a direct drive, dual stator electric motor delivering 22 kW peak power and 250 Nm peak torque.

In addition, the wheels use ‘high bandwidth’ suspension incorporating a 90% efficient harvesting of regenerative braking charge. The suspension has adaptive, simultaneous control of horizontal propulsion and vertical suspension. This includes yaw and roll control, as well as torque vectoring to improve steering control.

Mounted on standard 18-inch wheels, the suspension can be either the MacPherson strut or double wishbone configuration.

The combination of motors and suspension has helped to reduce overall vehicle weight. In combination with system efficiencies, Indigo claims that the Flow models can achieve a 250-mile range with a 40 kWh battery pack.

In addition, moving the motor out of the transmission tunnel area has allowed the vehicle to have a flat load floor and increased interior space.
