Joy Global Sells Steel Mill

Joy Global Inc. said it has completed the sale of its Longview, Tex. steel plate mill to Nucor Corp. for approximately $29 million. All of Longview’s steel mill and cutting employees have been transitioned to Nucor employment. Joy Global said it hopes to continue working with the plant, as the mill supplies heavy steel plate used to manufacture some of the company’s mining equipment.
The sale of the Longview mill was first announced shortly before July’s announcement that Joy was being purchased by Japan’s Komatsu Ltd. for $3.7 billion.
