09 September 2016

Jed Mandel, president, Truck & Engine Manufacturers Association and Dr. Tim Johnson, director of emerging technologies and regulations at Corning Inc., will provide expert analysis of the global emissions landscape at the 5th annual Global Off-Highway Industry Dialogue conference.

The Global Off-Highway Industry Dialogue will be held October 5, 2016 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill. and  is presented by the Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association (HDMA), Diesel Progress, Power Systems Research and SAE International,.

The segment, “Global Standards: What is in Your Future”, will discuss emissions related issues, including the globalization of regulations, and how this continues to effect the off-highway sector. The one-hour panel will be focused on land-based, off-highway engines in the 19kw – 560 kw (30hp-700hp) range, and include a Q&A with the audience.  The panel will be moderated by Dennis Huibregtse, president, Power Systems Research.

“This is not just a re-hash of the emissions regulations that are in place,” said Tim Kraus, president and COO HDMA.  Nearly everyone in our industry is already familiar with those, although they are in varying stages in each country.  Dr. Johnson, as an exhaust and after-treatment expert, will seek to tie in the technology developments as related to the ever-tightening regulations – which is something a good many of our suppliers can relate to and learn from.”

“Jed Mandel, as president of the EMA, is also in a unique position to shed some light on the potential of global emissions standards in the off-highway industry,” added Kraus. “We are looking forward to hearing insights from the ongoing discussions he has been involved in surrounding Stage 5 / Tier 4 final regulations.”

Dr. Timothy V. Johnson has spent 30 years at Corning Incorporated, the past 19 years as director of emerging technologies and regulations.

Mandel is President of the Truck and Engine Manufacturers Association (EMA), a Chicago-based organization representing the manufacturers of commercial vehicles and of engines used in trucks and buses. Mandel has been with EMA for 35 years and has focused on emission control and regulation.
