UK construction show will announce new dates after rescheduled Hillhead event causes clash
The Construction Equipment Association (CEA) in the UK has postponed its Plantworx 2022 exhibition after the Hillhead construction and quarrying show was rescheduled to the same month.
CEA did not give new dates for Plantworx, but said it would announce plans future from the latter part of 2021 through to 2023.
Plantworx was due to take place between the 14 and 16 June, 2022. However the new dates announced for Hillhead earlier this week - 21 to 23 June - meant the competing events would have run just one week apart. The construction industry shows have traditionally taken place on alternate years.
The CEA’s Chief Executive, Rob Oliver, said, “What we have learnt from the pandemic challenge is to be flexible with our plans for physical and other events.
“We have an excellent relationship with the East of England Arena and Events Centre, our Plantworx ‘home’ in Peterborough – and will be announcing some new initiatives with them and others in the coming weeks.”
In 2019, the 4th edition of Plantworx attracted 450 exhibitors and a “record number” of visitors.
The CEA said its “team behind the event remain committed to providing a meeting place for construction industry professionals and suppliers, including the 150 strong CEA membership”.
Oliver said, “We know that companies are anxious to get back to face-to-face networking, but not at the expense of their safety. Our new programme will aim to be attuned to the requirements of our Plantworx community in showcasing the best products and technology now available.
“We still believe there is a terrific future for bringing business people together to do business.”
