Caterpillar has launched a library of how-to videos and articles for customers that prefer to do their own maintenance and repairs.

Cat said the DIY videos provide easy-to-follow instructions and will instil confidence in customers that they can properly perform the tasks.

“Customers can view these short how-to videos with the goal of making it simple, clear, and easy for them to maintain their Cat equipment,” said Jay Ramasamy, vice president, sales & marketing for Caterpillar’s Construction Industries Services Division (CISD).

“They were developed in direct response to what people are requesting most for common repair and inspection items. They are designed to help save customers’ time and money and assist those who prefer to do their own maintenance at a time that’s convenient with their production schedule.”

Ramasamy added that if a task requires a part or becomes more involved than anticipated, the blog site provides resources for additional support.

60 videos and multiple languages

The DIY video series will supplement a machine’s operation and maintenance manual (OMM). The library includes nearly 60 videos in English with subtitles in 23 different languages.

In addition, Caterpillar has developed a blog series covering the most popular maintenance tips, outlining inspection, maintenance and repair, and replacement information into clear steps.

The videos and articles cover everything from maintaining dozer precision cutting edges and installing batteries to replacing fuel filters and testing the service brake.

For customers upgrading their equipment, the series also offers concise instructions on how to install various upgrade kits, such as light guards, cab guards, and fire extinguisher mounts.

Cat customers can access the DIY video series here. The DIY blog site can be viewed here
