Cummins has introduced the new 2025 6.7-liter Turbo Diesel Pickup engine for the latest Ram Heavy Duty lineup, described as the most advanced diesel pickup engine yet.

The new six-cylinder engine will be available in the 2025 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty pickups and the Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 Chassis Cab models.

The 6.7-liter Turbo Diesel will deliver 430 hp and 1,075 lb ft of torque in the pickup models and 360 hp and 800 lb ft of torque for Chassis Cab trucks. It will be paired with an all-new eight-speed TorqueFlite transmission.

According to details published by Ram, the 6.7-liter engine has up to 36,610 pounds (16,600 kg) towing capacity. Further, 0-60 mph (0-100 km/h) is now 6.9 seconds, 1.1 seconds quicker than the previous model.

A new airflow management system supports improved emissions performance, while the new high-pressure fuel system features top feed dry service injectors and a new fuel pump.

Cummins’ latest variable-geometry turbocharger delivers ‘intelligent’ condition-based power output more rapidly and efficiently.

A cold-start management system with advanced glow plug technology offers significantly improved cold weather performance.

Other features on the new engine include changes to improve ease of servicing. For example, the oil and dual fuel filter are now positioned to allow access from the top of the engine.

Cummins has been delivering engines to Ram (formerly Dodge) since 1989 and the first 5.9-liter 160 hp model. It has now been confirmed that the company will continue to deliver diesel engines through 2030.

The 2025 Ram HD models will be available from Q1 this year.
