Hydraulic Runtime Meter

Webtec’s new RFS200 runtime meter.

Webtec has a developed a new runtime meter designed to measure the operating time of hydraulic attachments on construction and agricultural machinery. The new RFS200 meter can measure the operation period of specialized hydraulic attachments that are rented on a “time used” basis or helps equipment owners conduct maintenance on a time-used basis, rather than machine hours, thus allowing for more precise and cost-effective management of hydraulic system health.

The new Webtec RFS 200 runtime meter is activated by the passage of hydraulic fluid and can accommodate flows up to 52 gpm (200 lpm) at pressures up to 6000 psi (420 bar). The unit is based on the movement of a piston working against a spring through a sharp-edged orifice, with position sensed magnetically. An operational trigger point of 2.6 gpm (10 lpm) is set during manufacture for reliability and integrity and an anti-tamper design ensures security, the company said. When the switch point is reached, the counter starts incrementing – as indicated by a blinking decimal point on the LCD display. The meter keeps counting whenever the flow rate remains above the trigger point. All counting is cumulative.

The RFS200 is bi-directional and will allow oil to pass in reverse, but the counter will not be triggered. It is suitable for use with hydraulic oil to ISO 11158 category HM, and it can operate with fluid temperatures between -40° and 212° F (-40° and 100°C) . Timer accuracy is ±0.2% over the specified temperature range, the company said. The unit’s flow body and housing is made from anodized 2011T6 aluminum, with stainless steel and brass internal components. Sensitive components are sealed to IP66 standards and battery life is over 10 years, the company said./

Webtec said the RFS200 runtime meter also incorporates the company’s first-ever 3D-printed production part, the flow counter battery holder.
