Iveco Bus shows new LE Elec and E-Way electric models

Iveco Bus has showcased a series of the company’s sustainable electromobility transport solutions at the UITP Global Public Transport Summit in Barcelona, Spain.
Featured at the show was the Iveco Bus Crossway LE Elec. The model is equipped with a 330 kW motor which delivers maximum torque of 2200 Nm. The model can be specified with five (346 kW), six (416 kW) or seven (485 kW) battery packs, distributed across the roof and rear compartments. The NMC li-ion battery packs are assembled by FPT.
The LE Elec is offered in 12- and 13-metre versions for Class I city operations and Class II intecity routes. These respectively have 44 and 48 seats.
The buses can be recharged in five hours using an individual Combo CCS2 socket. Charging can also be completed using an optional roof-mounted pantograph. Range on a full charge is about 400 km. Deliveries are set to start in mid-2023.
Iveco Bus also presented the E-Way bus, available in 9.5, 10.7, 12 and 18-metre body sizes. The E-Way can accommodate between five and nine battery packs (nine packs have 624 kWh), dependent on model. As with the LE Elec, maximum range is about 400 km.
All models are fitted with a new Siemens Elfa III electric motor delivering 185 kW maximum power.
The 12m E-Way is offered with two charging modes, a Combo 2 CSS socket or optional pantograph. 12- and 18-metre versions are available in BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) variants, branded Linium.
Deliveries of the E-Way are expected to start in the second half of 2024.
To support operation of the LE Elec and E-Way buses, Iveco Bus has also introduced its Energy Mobility Solutions product to optimise management of the vehicles and related facilities. The system can identify the best charging strategy, configuration of the chargers and related infrastructure.
