New Volvo VNX vocational truck for North America

Volvo Trucks has launched the new Volvo VNX in North America. This is the third truck model added to the lineup in less than three years.

The Volvo VNX is aimed at the vocational and heavy-haul segments covering construction, agriculture and infrastructure markets.

“This is Volvo like you’ve never seen before,” said Peter Voorhoeve, president, Volvo Trucks North America.

“The all-new Volvo VNX is the toughest, safest, most connected and most powerful vocational truck we have ever built. Designed specifically for North America and for the most demanding jobs, it marks a major step forward for Volvo Trucks in the vocational segment.”

The VNX uses the existing D13 12.8-liter inline six-cylinder turbodiesel engine, which in this application delivers up to 540 hp and 2,600 Nm of torque. An engine brake returns up to 630 bhp. The engine is certified to EPA 2027 standards.

According to Volvo, the new model uses 33% more ultra high-strength steel in the cab. The cab has been further engineered to reduce noise and vibration. Other safety features include side curtain airbags, a first in this segment.

There is a forward pedestrian detection system and a 360-degree top-down camera view.

A 4G telematics system monitors the truck for potential issues, while remote programming software can install over-the-air updates.

Volvo will announce the start of sales of the new VNX later in 2026.
