Based on Kamaz-Baudouin engines

Russia’s JSC Power Machines and engine manufacturer PJSC Kamaz are cooperating on modular gas piston power plants (GPPP) based on Kamaz and Kamaz-Baudouin engines.

The parties are considering the possibility of creating a joint venture for the production of domestic gas power plants with a capacity of 0.5 MW or more.

The purpose of creating a new product is to meet the needs of customers in electrical, thermal and refrigeration energy through the development and production of a GPPP with a modular, and therefore more flexible, configuration.

Under the agreement, Power Machines will provide the GPPP with generator, heat exchange and refrigeration equipment of its own production, as well as with automatic control systems (ACS TP) of its own design.

The partner companies intend to offer customers various models of interaction. We are talking about energy service contracts, leasing, equipment leasing, as well as attracting concessional financing for the needs of customers. This approach to cooperation will make the product more accessible to a wide range of consumers, since it will not require significant capital investments for consumers during the construction of a GPP. Taking into account the fact that the cost of electricity transportation in the tariff can be up to 50%, the proposed solution looks very attractive.

“The issues of cost reduction in the field of energy have always been among the most urgent,” said Director General of KAMAZ PTC Sergey Kogogin. We are glad that the broad potential of the company is in demand, and we are ready to join forces with a partner in the search for competitive opportunities for localizing the production of gas power plants in Russia and creating a demanded, promising, unique and at the same time affordable product. For us, this project opens up new opportunities for development.”

Distributed small generation occupies an increasing share in the volume of electricity generation in Russia, said Timur Lipatov, general director of Power Machines.

“A joint project with KAMAZ will allow our company to expand its product line, and will provide potential customers with flexibility in choosing a model for implementing a power supply project,” Lipatov said. “A new modular design principle for a gas turbine power plant, a proprietary automated process control system and specially developed software will allow customers to choose the most suitable solution.”
