FPT Industrial has unveiled the eBS 37 Evo battery pack as its first entry into the marine power market.

AS Labruna, a distributor for FPT Industrial, has paired the battery pack with the Hevolution 80-37 hybrid generator.

The eBS 37 Evo is well-suited for marine applications, using cells and modules that offer high energy density and reduced overall weight.

The Li-NMC pack has a maximum storage capacity of 37 kWh and energy density in excess of 140 Wh/kg. The water-cooled pack, which weighs 260 kg, is rated for in excess of 2,500 charge/discharge cycles.

A new internal design means the packs are now compliant with the ECE R100 3 and ECE R10 6 standards.

Additionally the eBM 5 battery management system, designed in-house by FPT Industrial, supports extended battery life.

The eBS 37 Evo is designed for circularity through the company’s ‘4R’ code of practice. This includes repair (ranging from remote product monitoring to in-field maintenance), refurbish (in-house maintenance), repurpose (through dedicated second-life reuse), and recycle (in regions where this is available).

Andrea Cugnini, vice president, FPT Industrial ePowertrain Business Line, said: “Thanks to our many years of experience in the on-road sector, one of our ePowertrain products is now being introduced into the marine sector. This is a very important step that clearly demonstrates how the value of our products can be applied across multiple segments.”

Created in 2018, the ePowertrain department has hubs in Switzerland, Italy and the UK. The division has to date developed a series of solutions intended to reduce emissions and support sustainability.
