Scania releases new range of Touring coaches

Scania has launched its new Touring model range, the latest addition to its coach lineup.

“The new generation Scania Touring is a significant improvement of what is already an advanced and highly appreciated coach. It combines the reliability and energy efficiency that customers expect from Scania with a much anticipated, new Scania-specific design as well as key upgrades in luggage capacity and for the driver and passenger experience,” said Sundeep Kumar, head of Portfolio Management, People Transport Solutions.

This latest iteration of the Touring is offered with diesel/biodiesel and gaseous (natural gas, CNG, biogas) powertrains, both of which are Euro 6 compliant.

Diesel engine sizes range from 9.0 to 13.0 liters, with power delivery of between 265 kW (360 hp) and 368 kW (500 hp). Torque ranges from 1,700 to 2,650 Nm.

The 11- and 13-liter Super engines are only available on the Touring. Dependent on model, these can use diesel, biodiesel, FAME and HVO.

All diesel engines are fitted with an SCR emissions reduction system.

Power is delivered to the wheels via either a 14-speed automated manual gearbox (available with Scania Opticruise), or a six-speed ZF Ecolife 2 auto.

The gaseous-fuel option is a 13-liter model which has a power output of 302 kW (410 hp) and torque delivery of 2,000 Nm. This is paired with a 12-speed gearbox with Scania Opticruise. The engine is fitted with EGR system.

The Scania Touring is offered in two- (4x2) and three-axle (6x2, 6x2*4) variants. Overall length options range from 10.9 to 14.7 meters.

Other features include an aerodynamically optimized body. Improvements in this area have reduced overall drag, which helps to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions, while also cutting interior noise levels.

New digital rear-view mirrors also help to reduce drag, while improving manoeuvrability and visibility.
